Staying in Miyakojima with 9 Guests: Beds and Rooms

Nagine's living room, with the terrace visible beyond the large window

Even when a property page says “up to 9 guests,” it usually does not explain where and how those nine people will actually rest.

That is why, on arrival, you may find yourself deciding where everyone will sleep, or discovering that the room layout is different from what you had imagined.

What “9 guests allowed” really means

When comparing accommodations for larger groups, it is worth checking these three points.

  • How many bedrooms there are, and what kind of beds each one has

  • How many guests will use auxiliary bedding such as rollaway beds, sofa beds, or futons

  • Which room those extra beds will be placed in

The third point is especially important. If the extra bedding is placed in the living room, that space also becomes a bedroom at night.

What to know before staying with 9 guests

Can everyone use a bedroom, or does the living room also serve as a bedroom?

This may be the biggest difference when a property is used at full capacity.
Please check the accommodation details carefully.

That is because, if the living room becomes a sleeping area at night, the space is shared by those who want to talk late and those who want to sleep early.

In such cases, for groups with different bedtimes, it helps to assign the late sleepers to the living room side and the early sleepers to the bedrooms.

If there is a terrace, those who want to stay up later can move there. Even so, please be considerate of nearby guests and neighbors when talking or playing music at night.

How the bathrooms are arranged

With 9 guests, people tend to gather in the morning and again after returning from the beach.

For reference, the bathroom facilities at Nagine are as follows.

  • 1 bathroom with a bathtub

  • 1 separate shower room

  • 2 washbasins

  • 2 toilets, both with bidet functions

Because the bath and shower are separate, one person can soak in the tub while another uses the shower. Having two washbasins and two toilets also makes a difference for a group of nine. Even so, some facilities are available only one at a time, so it is best to plan on staggering use.

Is there enough parking?

With 9 guests, it is common to have two or three rental cars, so we recommend checking in advance. If there are only one or two parking spaces, you will also need to think carefully about transportation to the property.

At Nagine, there are two on-site parking spaces, free of charge and uncovered.

Rates may change depending on the number of guests

In many cases, rates vary according to the number of guests and the dates of stay. If you are considering a stay for nine people, it is best to confirm the total cost in advance.

How children are treated

How children are reflected in the pricing varies by property. Some distinguish between preschool children, elementary school children, or make no specific distinction at all. For a group of nine made up of multiple families, there may be many children. Facilities matter, but so does the pricing structure.

At Nagine, up to two children sleeping with a parent may stay free and are not counted toward the occupancy limit. If a child needs bedding, regardless of age, they are counted toward the occupancy limit.

In other words, a stay such as “9 adults + 2 children aged 5 or under sharing beds” is possible. Children from 0 years old are welcome to stay. Please note that the person making the reservation and the primary guest must be 18 years of age or older.

Checklist before booking

  • What sleeping setup will be used for the bedrooms and living room?

  • If anyone will sleep in the living room, can it work alongside evening use of that space?

  • Will the number of rental cars fit within the parking capacity?

  • If children are included, will they be sharing a bed or need their own bedding?

  • If traveling as three generations or with older guests, are there stairs inside the property?

  • Have you confirmed the total cost for your actual dates and number of guests?

Here is how it works at Nagine

A day with 9 guests

In the morning, people get up one by one. With two washbasins, even a group of nine does not need to queue. Some make coffee, some cook rice, and some head out for an early walk. Yonaha Maehama Beach is about a 5-minute walk away.

In the bright heat of the afternoon, time spent by the pool and on the terrace helps you conserve energy. With an outdoor bed and an outdoor table, those who want to be in the water and those who want to rest can stay in the same place.

In the evening, prepare dinner in the kitchen and bring it out to the outdoor table. The larger the group, the more valuable it becomes to be free from restaurant reservations and waiting time. An electric BBQ grill is available as a paid option (5,000 yen).
